Feel Human Again: Shambhala Training Weekend Retreat I (Westside)
with Acharya Emily Bower
This weekend retreat provides an opportunity to learn and practice the simple yet profound technique of mindfulness-awareness meditation.
Through short, repeated sessions of sitting meditation, we will deepen our familiarity and comfort just being with ourselves. In the process, we will remember our natural confidence and relax into the present moment.
Interspersed lectures and discussion help us clarify the Shambhala view of meditation practice: to reconnect with our inherent sanity as a means to extend compassion to ourselves and others. Through a healthy balance of instruction and practice, we deepen our understanding of the how and the why of meditation.
With the guidance of a Shambhala teacher and experienced meditation instructors, we’ll discover how to carry our practice off the cushion and into every aspect of our lives.
Shambhala Training Weekend I includes:
- Instructions on sitting and walking meditation
- Guided and silent sessions of sitting and walking meditation
- Talks and small group discussions
- One-on-one Q&A with a meditation instructor
- Lunch on Saturday and tea breaks
- Concluding Sunday reception
About Shambhala Training:
Feel Human Again is the first retreat in Shambhala Training, a sequence of five weekend retreats for anyone interested in exploring meditation as a way to develop openness, gentleness, fearlessness and confidence toward ourselves and our world. Each weekend presents a progression of Shambhala warriorship—a path of nonaggression born from the willingness to meet our world without bias or judgment. This path, suitable for both beginning and experienced meditators, shows how to take the challenges of everyday life as opportunities to increase our capacity for kindness and compassion.
