In this Contemplative Mark Making Creativity Lab the Group will Practice sitting meditation followed by experiential exercises. No previous drawing or art experience needed. Bring a notebook, pens and pencils. Paper and mark making supplies will also be provided.

About Joshua Northcutt: My family encouraged me to draw and keep a sketch book at age 10. I fondly sketched and doodled in my classroom notebooks from preschool to high school and formally studied art after Nursing School. I received my BA in Studio Arts in 2007 from the University of Hawaii with a focus on Painting and Drawing. I began studying Buddhism in 1994. Since visiting the Hawaii Shambhala Group in 2010, I’ve been actively engaged in the path, including training both as a Shambhala Art teacher and Shambhala Path Meditation Instructor.

Based on the Dharma Art Teachings of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. The Dharma Art teachings unlock a non-conceptual sense of knowing that is available to all. No art or meditation experience is required. All are welcome; Please note the location.

Contemplative Creativity Lab alternates between Westside Shambhala and Eagle Rock Shambhala Centers. There will also be occasional Labs at the Orange County Shambhala Center.

The Shambhala Center of Los Angeles remains open because of the ongoing generosity of our community. One of the cornerstones of our policy is that no one be turned away for lack of funds. If you can’t afford a program, please call our office (323-255-5472) to register based on what you can afford. At the same time, the Center relies on program revenue to cover costs. For those who are able to pay more than the program price, your generosity in paying the Patron Price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price, and provides additional support to the Shambhala Center of Los Angeles. Thank you for your kindness!

If you cancel more than 7 days prior to your class (and have already paid), you will receive a full refund less a processing fee of $15. If you cancel between 1 to 7 days prior to arrival, we will credit your payment towards another program at Shambhala Los Angeles to be used within 1 year. No refunds or credits are issued for cancellations received fewer than 24 hours prior to arrival.
