In our conventional daily world, money and wealth are often seen as the opposite of spiritual practice. Money, in particular, so necessary in our daily lives, often causes so much confusion, hope and fear, resulting in greed, pride, desire and aggression.

The Shambhala vision encourages us to be fully engaged in all aspects of our world, including with wealth and money, but how can we develop genuine relationships with such powerful worldly forces?

Join us for this special talk where we will explore how the Shambhala teachings can offer us both an understanding of the true meaning of wealth in our lives, and a sane, skillful, and confident way to relate with money -- so that our own dignity and personal richness are enhanced, and we can make a more complete contribution to our world.

Acharya Eric Spiegel grew up on Manhattan's Lower East Side in a lefty family that he describes as "fundamentalist atheists." In 1971 he met and became a student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. He has worked in the financial sector for decades and in 2002 he left Wall Street to devote more time to teaching. The following year, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche appointed him an Acharya, which means "senior teacher." He is the Acharya for the New York Shambhala Community and teaches and has students in NYC, around the US, and internationally. He has worked extensively with people facing death and with issues related to death and dying. He also works and teaches within the Shambhala tradition on developing a more awakened attitude toward wealth and money.

The Shambhala Center of Los Angeles remains open because of the ongoing generosity of our community. One of the cornerstones of our policy is that no one be turned away for lack of funds. If you can’t afford a program, please call our office (323-255-5472) to register based on what you can afford. At the same time, the Center relies on program revenue to cover costs. For those who are able to pay more than the program price, your generosity in paying the Patron Price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price, and provides additional support to the Shambhala Center of Los Angeles. Thank you for your kindness!

If you cancel more than 7 days prior to your class (and have already paid), you will receive a full refund less a processing fee of $15. If you cancel between 1 to 7 days prior to arrival, we will credit your payment towards another program at Shambhala Los Angeles to be used within 1 year. No refunds or credits are issued for cancellations received fewer than 24 hours prior to arrival.
