July 12th—September 27th (2017)

Date details +
  • $15.00 Program Price
Room: WESTSIDE SHAMBHALA @ 3877 Grand View Blvd, Mar Vista, 90066

For a limited time, our Weekly Dharma Gatherings in Mar Vista will feature special video talks by Pema Chödron on The Myth of Freedom and the Way of Meditation, by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

This text explores the true meaning of freedom, showing us how our preconceptions, attitudes, and even our spiritual practices can become chains that bind us to repetitive patterns of frustration and despair. With meditation and awareness, we can learn to dissolve the barriers we put up between ourselves and the world.
Each evening will feature meditation instruction, a short period of meditation, a videotaped talk by Pema, discussion, and refreshments.  You do not have to commit to the whole series.  Drop-in's are welcome as each session features a stand-alone talk. All are welcome, newcomers and experienced practitioners. Bring a Friend!

Schedule and Topics:

July 12: Fantasy and Reality
July 26: Disappointment and Suffering
August 9: Egolessness and The Cosmic Joke
August 23: Self-Absorption and Paranoia
September 13: Passion and Stupidity
September 27: Poverty and Anger

Suggested Donation: $15/session

The Shambhala Center of Los Angeles remains open because of the ongoing generosity of our community. One of the cornerstones of our policy is that no one be turned away for lack of funds. If you can’t afford a program, please call our office (323-255-5472) to register based on what you can afford. At the same time, the Center relies on program revenue to cover costs. For those who are able to pay more than the program price, your generosity in paying the Patron Price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price, and provides additional support to the Shambhala Center of Los Angeles. Thank you for your kindness!

If you cancel more than 7 days prior to your class (and have already paid), you will receive a full refund less a processing fee of $15. If you cancel between 1 to 7 days prior to arrival, we will credit your payment towards another program at Shambhala Los Angeles to be used within 1 year. No refunds or credits are issued for cancellations received fewer than 24 hours prior to arrival.
