Special invitation from the Director

director of shambhala with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche in Pasadena

We spent the latter part of this year together at the Pasadena Convention Center in the presence of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, and I am still basking in the rays of beauty and brilliance from our teacher, each of you and the magnificent space that a gang of very hardworking warriors created.

Kim Christensen, our Director of Education and amazing coordinator for the Community Day gave a big thank you to her team of volunteers. I’d like to piggy back on that thanks to the whole team, but very specifically I’d like to thank Kim. As many of you know Kim worked tirelessly for weeks to pull that day together. Kim’s devotion was an inspiration! She exhibited extraordinary grace and generosity under an intense time pressure. Kim, you are a delight! One-hundred-thousand thank yous!

Later in the evening the vajra sangha enjoyed the Sakyong’s presence and brilliance at a Werma Feast at the Eagle Rock center. Many people came together to make this happen but at the helm, as always, was our amazing Director of Practice, Marian English. Marian attended to details of the day and the evening with her incredible and inspirational patience and humor. You are a true warrior Marian! Thank you!

Also, a hearty thank you to the flawless and pristine Dorje Kasung, led by Rusung Anolin, who protected the space with incredible dignity. Three cheers for the Dorje Kasung!

And just on the heels of this auspicious visit by our teacher is Shambhala Day! We are feasting on celebration and community time together! There are many goings on in Southern California before, on and after Shambhala Day (see below). We will have a rich full day in Eagle Rock together on Shambhala Day, Thursday February 19, beginning at 9am with a Lhasang, then practice led by Acharya Bower, a couple of words from me as your Director, the I Ching to hear what our upcoming year has in store, a live address by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and a potluck lunch together.

I hope to see you all on Shambhala Day in Eagle Rock! I have some wonderful news to share, a bit of vision for our future and lots of love and appreciation for each and every one of you.

Let’s ring in the Year of the Wood Sheep together!
See you Thursday!
