2012 will be a great year for qigong in the LA area – from January to December! Shambhala Meditation Center of Los Angeles invites you to participate in any – or all – of the following qigong weekend intensives:
LEVELS 1 & 2 (Jan. 14-15) with Ashe Acharya John Rockwell
This training will provide instruction in two qigong lineages that have never before been fully transmitted in the West: Xiantianwujimen, the Pre-Celestial Limitless Gate School, founded in the 10th-12th centuries and specializing in techniques that build a strong foundation for sitting meditation, and Wang Xiangzhai's Yiquan School, known for its standing qigong postures that still the mind while simultaneously circulating qi or internal energy. This 2 day training includes talks, Taoist lore, detailed instruction in forms of sitting, standing and even sleeping qigong, calistheinics, self-massage – as well as meditation instruction and sitting meditation practice.

LEVEL 3 (March 16-18) with EVA WONG
In this weekend intensive, students will learn Hua Tu's Five Animal Forms – Tiger for tendon strength, Bear for bone strength, Deer for preserving generative energy, Monkey for enhanced agility and Bird for improved balance. Four more Yiquan Standing Qigong postures will be taught, and students begin receiving instruction in The Immortals' Guide to Self-Massage and Breath Regulation, as well as Red Phoenix Calisthenics. These qigong systems are practices for removing blockages in the meridians, aligning the spinal column for optimal circulation of qi, and strengthening tendons, bones and muscles. Prerequisite: Completion of Qigong 1 & 2.

LEVEL 4 (Oct. 26-28) with EVA WONG
In this level, we begin to practice the Wudang Shan Five Animals, continue with The Immortals' Guide to Self-Massage and Breath Regulation and Red Phoenix Calisthenics, and complete the Yiquan Standing Qigong postures. A wonderful weekend!

* Ashe Acharya John Rockwell entered into the Shambhala Buddhist path in 1975 as a student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche recognized him as an acharya in 1996, and as Ashe (senior) Acharya in 2001, and placed him in charge of the Shambhala Office of Practice and Education. A Buddhist scholar and translator, John is a member of the Nalanda Translation Committee. He worked with Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche on co-editing The Rain of Wisdom, The Life of Marpa, and other texts. He is currently resident head teacher at karme Choling, where he leads beginning and advanced meditation retreats, and sits on the faculty of the Mukpo Institute, an in-depth program of study and practice.
** Eva Wong is a Daoist practitioner, author and scholar. She is the writer and translator of fifteen books on Daoism and the Daoist arts of health. She is the nineteenth generation lineage carrier of Xiantianwujimen and third generation student of Wang Xiangzhai, the founder of Yiquan martial arts and standing qigong. She is also a lineage holder of the Xuankong (Mysterious Subtleties) School of traditional Chinese feng-shui and a practitioner of the Sanyuan (Three Periods) and Sanhe (Three Combinations) Schools. Eva Wong offered the teachings of her qigong lineages to the current lineage holder of Shambhala, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, in 2005.
