WAY OF SHAMBHALA I: Fearlessness in Everyday Life
with Bill Bothwell & Katharine Bainbridge
Prerequisites: Joy in Everyday Life (JIEL). It is also highly recommended that students have taken Shambhala Training Level Four.
Learning to work with our anxiety, we are not blocked by fear. Through an exploration of the Buddhist teachings of mind and the nature of reality, we learn to see clearly. We dare to face life and death as they are. The meditator, open to uncertainty, goes beyond the emotions of hope and fear to experience equanimity.
This is the fourth class in our core curriculum Way of Shambhala. It also offers a glimpse of the Shambhala vision of enlightened society by emphasizing the ways in which meditation and contemplation can impact our daily lives, and from there how the sanity of these practices can expand to impact our whole society.
Bill Bothwell is a senior student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, an accomplished lawyer and musician, and father to three young adults. He has studied and practiced the Shambhala and Buddhist teachings for over 35 years and has taught Shambhala Training levels for over 20 years.
Katharine Bainbridge is a Certified Jungian Analyst, long time Shambhala Buddhist practitioner and student of Sakyong Mipham Ripoche. Ms. Bainbridge recently traveled to Tibet and has a private psychotherapy practice in Encino.
Please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, or scented products to the LA Shambhala Center as some of our participants have severe scent-related allergies.
