The Way of Shambhala I series of classes explores the experiences of contentment, joy, fearlessness, and wisdom in everyday life.  This series culminates in the Rigden Weekend. The Rigden is a representation of our basic enlightened nature, and embodies the principle of unconditional confidence. Historically, Rigdens were enlightened rulers - those who could "rule their world" based on their unwavering experience of basic goodness. Emphasizing our innate and genuine confidence and steadfastness, Acharya Bower will lead an exploration of ways in which we can embody the qualities of the Rigden in our own lives and help bring compassionate and strong leadership to the world.

PRE-REQUISITES:  Completion of Shambhala Training Level V: Open Sky AND Way of Shambhala Course 5: Wisdom in Everyday Life

Acharya Emily Bower started practicing in the Shambhala community in 1987, in Berkeley, CA. She began studying with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche when he came to teach in Berkeley in 1991. She served as his editor for various projects, including his first book, Turning the Mind into an Ally. She has studied kyudo with Kanjuro Shibata Sensei and is a lifelong member of the Dorje Kasung. In 1991, she joined the staff of Karme Chöling, where she lived for three years, working on publicity and marketing. She has been a professional editor since 1987 and has most recently worked full-time as an acquiring editor for Shambhala Publications in Boston. Now, in addition to traveling and teaching in the Shambhala mandala, she continues to work as a book editor and publishing consultant. She has recently moved to Los Angeles.

Please note that there will also be a Rigden Weekend offered in San Diego in November 2013: http://www.sandiego.shambhala.org/program_details.php?id=141279&cid=254

SMCLA Generosity Policy

The Shambhala Center remains open because of the ongoing generosity of our members and program participants, and one of the cornerstones of our policy is that no one should be prevented from participating in programs for lack of funds. At the same time, the Center relies on the revenue from program participants to cover the cost of each program and of keeping our doors open. For programs where there is a set price, if the program price is an obstacle for you, please offer as much of the program price as you can. The suggested minimum, based on the Center’s costs, is 50% of the program price. You may type in the amount on the registration page and pay accordingly. For those who are able to pay more than the program price, your generosity in paying the Patron Price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price of the program, and provides support to the Shambhala Center. If you have any questions, please email la@shambhala.org.

Program Cancellation Policy

If you cancel more than 7 days prior to your class (and have already paid), you will receive a full refund less a processing fee of $15. If you cancel between 1 to 7 days prior to arrival, we will credit your payment towards another program at Shambhala Los Angeles to be used within 1 year. No refunds or credits are issued for cancellations received fewer than 24 hours prior to arrival.
