Way of Shambhala I: Joy in Everyday Life (At our new Westside Center!)

with John Beard & Shastri Marilyn Moore

July 5th—August 2nd (2012)

Date details +
  • $100.00 Program Price
  • $75.00 Patron Price
Room: WESTSIDE SHAMBHALA @ 3877 Grand View Blvd, Mar Vista, 90066

Prerequisites: Contentment in Everyday Life (CIEL). It is also highly recommended that students have taken Shambhala Training Level Three.

We often approach our lives with the idea that joy comes from the fulfillment of our personal desires. Through an exploration of the Buddhist teachings on intelligent compassion towards others, we begin to discover the confidence and inspiration for a life of cheerful discipline, health and bravery.

This is the third class in our core curriculum (http://la.shambhala.org/what-we-offer/the-way-of-shambhala/).  The class includes meditation instruction, talks, periods of meditation practice, discussion, and a variety of contemplative practice activities.

John Beard is a long-time student of the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. He has served in various leadership roles in the Los Angeles Shambhala mandala and is retired from a 40 year career in human resources management.

Marilyn Moore is a student of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. She has served as the Shambhala Center Director and is currently the Head of Practice, in addition to her role as co-leader of the SMCLA satellite center in Orange County.

Please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, or scented products to the LA Shambhala Center as some of our participants have severe scent-related allergies.

SMCLA Generosity Policy

The Shambhala Center remains open because of the ongoing generosity of our members and program participants, and one of the cornerstones of our policy is that no one should be prevented from participating in programs for lack of funds. At the same time, the Center relies on the revenue from program participants to cover the cost of each program and of keeping our doors open. For programs where there is a set price, if the program price is an obstacle for you, please offer as much of the program price as you can. The suggested minimum, based on the Center’s costs, is 50% of the program price. You may type in the amount on the registration page and pay accordingly. For those who are able to pay more than the program price, your generosity in paying the Patron Price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price of the program, and provides support to the Shambhala Center. If you have any questions, please email la@shambhala.org.

Program Cancellation Policy

If you cancel more than 7 days prior to your class (and have already paid), you will receive a full refund less a processing fee of $15. If you cancel between 1 to 7 days prior to arrival, we will credit your payment towards another program at Shambhala Los Angeles to be used within 1 year. No refunds or credits are issued for cancellations received fewer than 24 hours prior to arrival.
