Running With the Mind of Meditation Workshop (Westside)
with Cynthia MacKay
Using principles and teachings from Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche's new book, Running with the Mind of Meditation, this workshop will provide participants with tools to develop a peaceful, yet strong mind through the practices of sitting and walking meditation. Then we apply that mind to running, using mindfulness and awareness to come into the "now", where body and mind are synchronized. The result is more relaxed and joyful running, with greater efficiency, ease and confidence.
The workshop will include instruction and practice in sitting meditation, walking meditation, and then running meditation. In addition to doing a meditative run, there will be time for questions and discussion. Runners and walkers of all abilities are warmly invited to attend.
Cynthia MacKay has been a student of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche for over 20 years. She has traveled extensively through Asia receiving teachings from many other renowned Buddhist teachers, including the 17th Karmapa. Cynthia is now following in her teacher’s footsteps by running marathons. She is enjoying working with runners now that Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche’s new book has come out, “Running With the Mind of Meditation”.
