“It is our duty, yours and mine together, to actualize the sanity that has been
taught by the Lord Buddha.”
--Chögyam
Trungpa Rinpoche, 1983 Seminary Transcripts
The Shambhala Meditation Center of Los Angeles has been a training ground for enlightened society
and discovering basic goodness for thirty-five years. It has been a place for hearing,
contemplating and integrating the dharma. It has been a place that provides an oasis of
sanity in a fast-paced world of confusion. Our sangha
takes the words of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche seriously.
While we are delighted to have found a rental space to move to, it is the aspiration of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche that we find our own building on land that we will own. The cost of owning property in Southern California is notoriously high, so this aspiration will take time to become a reality.
Help us build a new center that will be a center for all of Southern California. To do
this we need your financial support. If you were thinking of sending in a donation to
the SMCLA Building Fund and hadn’t done it yet, please take the time to do it now. If you hadn't planned to give, please give it some thought, and make a donation today. If you have given to the
Building Fund already, thank you very much.
The magical element that binds the words ’society’ and ‘enlightenment’ into ‘enlightened
society’ is
the wholehearted motivation of individuals to engage personally in a social transformation
that will lead to betterment of the society.

and Organization
