Acharya Allyn Lyon is an appointee of the Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and acts as his personal representative in teaching Shambhala Buddhism. We are fortunate to host Acharya Lyon twice year for extended teaching visits.

Acharya Lyon served as the Director of Shambhala Mountain Center for five years. She has taught at the Vajradhatu Seminary and has traveled and has taught extensively in Europe, the U.S. and Mexico, as well as at Naropa University. She is also a senior teacher of Maitri Space Awareness.

During her autumn visit to Los Angeles, Acharya Lyon will be teaching a number of courses (see the detailed schedule), including:

Programs for Everyone

Work, Sex, Money and the Spiritual Path in L.A. -- a Public Talk at our Westside Center (November 22)
Winter Weekthun (November 23-29) -- a week of intensive meditation practice at SMCLA, with daily talks, discussion and meditation instruction
Generosity During the Holidays -- a public introductory talk (December 3)
Shambhala Training Level One, The Art of Being Human (December 4-6)
Creativity as Bodhisattva Practice -- a Public Talk at our Westside Center (part of the Meditation and the Creative Mind series of public talks) (Thursday, December 10)
Children’s Day, with a talk by Acharya Lyon on Parenting as Path (December 13)

Intermediate Programs

Lojong -- a five-week intermediate course beginning November 17 (pre-requisites apply—this course is especially recommended for those who have completed Level V)
Refuge Vows -- November 29th
Bodhisattva Vows -- November 29th

While in L.A., Acharya Lyon will be teaching a one-day Vajrayana program for qualified Shambhala Vajrayana students.
